About Gayle

My work is made with memories in mind. Unlike photographs which merely record, my custom creations capture the essence of a special time or place in your life. I have done custom work for the National Cathedral, the Baltimore Museum of Art's Gift Gallery and for many individuals. Using your personal photography as my guide I carefully render your images on to ceramic-ware. Every dish and platter, every urn or bowl fires a memory that will last for generations. I hand glaze personal quotes, brief histories, poetry, names and dates on each piece making them true timeless heirlooms – treasures to cherish for generations.

Ceramic Art

Each piece begins with the time-honored techniques of casting, slumping and throwing. I paint the design using your photographs as inspiration and with layers of custom-mixed under-glazes to suit your style. When all of the layers are complete the design will resemble a watercolor painting. The piece is bisque-kiln fired, then a clear dinnerware-safe glaze is applied and the piece once again is glaze-Kilnfired, so it's dishwasher safe. Intrinsically we know that when clay is kiln-fired it will last many lifetimes – possibly eons.
